Batteries not excluded
Hawksford
How do you get kids excited about batteries?
Hawksford International's recycling scheme for schools required a way of engaging primary school pupils, and encouraging them to recycle household batteries.
Now batteries don't exactly scream 'fun', so it was our challenge to inject some personality into an inanimate and, let's be honest, pretty dull object.
Our creatives chiselled away at their pixels to produce a playful character that would engage the target-audience. We then developed the campaign line 'Batteries Not Excluded' to further emphasise the message. A suitable balance had to be struck between communicating the key message, eye-catching imagery, but also Hawksford's contribution to the campaign. The recycling initiative worked particularly well alongside Hawksford International's strap line of 'Thinking beyond tomorrow'.
The campaign branding was applied to recycle tubes supplied by Transport & Technical Services' recycling department, and were distributed across all of the island's 22 non-fee-paying schools. The launch in schools was specifically timed in the lead up to Christmas to emphasise the fact that the batteries they will be using over the festive period can be brought back in the new year and recycled.
